About the role…

As a Trainee Lines Craftsperson, you’ll receive expert on-the-job training and technical instruction to build the skills needed to become fully qualified.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, helping install, maintain, and repair electrical power lines, transformers, and related equipment—all while learning to uphold the highest safety standards and industry best practices.

As a Trainee Lines Craftsperson you will…

  • Assist experienced Lines Crafts person in installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground power lines, transformers, substations, Low Voltage an up to an including 33kV Wood Poles Distribribution.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe work environment. Participate in safety meetings and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Help with basic maintenance tasks on overhead line systems.
  • Develop proficiency in using tools and equipment specific to electrical line work, including testing instruments, power line tools, and machinery.
  • Work closely with the senior lines Crafts Person to perform maintenance tasks, troubleshoot faults, and conduct emergency repairs.
  • Help prepare work sites by setting up traffic control, safety barriers, and ensuring that necessary tools and materials are available for tasks.
  • Assist in responding to power outages or faults, learning the steps to quickly and safely restore power under supervision.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of tasks performed, safety checks, and equipment used. Help track job progress and any issues that arise during work.
  • Understand and adhere to electrical codes, regulations, and company procedures, including safety and environmental guidelines.

About you…

We’re looking for individuals with a genuine interest in electrical systems and a willingness to learn. While previous experience in the electrical or engineering field is a bonus, it’s not essential—we value enthusiasm and a strong work ethic just as highly. A valid driving license is required, and any prior safety training, such as First Aid or CPR, will be viewed favourably. If you have a basic understanding of electrical safety or a curiosity about how power systems work, this is a fantastic opportunity to turn that interest into a rewarding career.
